Mount Everest

Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world. It is one of the Himalayan peaks in Nepal having an elevation of 29,028 ft above sea-level. The mountain is situated on the border between Nepal and Tibet.

The mountain is named after Sir George Everest (1790-1866) who was a supervisor for the British government in India. The Tibetan name of this mountain is Qomolungma.

Mount Everest was first climbed in 1953 by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.
